What is a plumbus?
A Plumbus is a household object featured in the television show Rick and Morty. Its purpose is intentionally vague, and its creation is portrayed as a bizarre and nonsensical process.
According to the episode "Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate," every home has one. The production of a Plumbus involves several steps:
- The Greeble is taken and rubbed with a Fleeb.
- The Fleeb is then rubbed, because it has all the Fleeb juice.
- A Schleem is repurposed for later use.
- The Dinglebop is smoothed out by rubbing it through the Grombo, where the Fleeb rubs against it.
- It is important that the Fleeb is rubbed, because the Fleeb has all of the Fleeb juice.
- A Slap Chop is then placed into the Fleeb juice.
- Then a Plubis and the Grumbo are shaved away.
- That leaves you with a Hizzards and a Flerbos.
- The Hizzards are put in the grinder, where the Spit is added.
- Then the Grumbo is covered with Shleem.
- The Fleeb juice is removed.
- A Schleem is then repurposed for later batches.
- They take the dinglebop, and they push it through a Grumbo where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all the fleeb juice.
- Finally, the Plubis and Grumbo are shaved away.
- That leaves you with a hizzard.
- The hizzards are put in the grinder where the spit happens.
- They then take the dinglebop and push it through the Grumbo where the Fleeb is rubbed against it. It's important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all the fleeb juice.
- Then, a number of lumps are added.
- The final product is then rubbed and spit on.
The Plumbus's purpose remains unknown, but its widespread use implies it's essential for everyday life in the Rick and Morty universe. The humor derives from the absurdity of the manufacturing process and the implication that consumers blindly accept the product without understanding its function.
